This was a fantastic trade for me but I’m not guaranteeing myself that this will go for something crazy.

I recognize this piano is used and while it’s in okay condition it’s not pristine.

I’m setting a $100-$200 (ish) range as my estimate and then I’ll see and go from there. Maybe more, maybe less. That would still be a 5x or 10x increase from my last item. But we’ll see!

I had a theory I tested out in this trade. 🤔

When people do these trade projects there’s an obvious focus on the monetary value. People focus on trading for something that is higher in dollar value.

Element #1 = The value of “money” 💵

That’s obviously the goal here, to trade for something more valuable. But I think there are other elements that may not be getting enough thought.

Element #2 = The value of “heart” ❤️

Especially early on in these types of trades, people are more interested in helping out or being a part of a cool story.

No one actually needs your rock or paper clip or bobby pin or pencil. There is an altruistic element and a desire to be a part of the project.

But I theorize there is a third element that many traders don’t consider.

Element #3 = The value of “mental freedom”💭

The value of a clear mind, allowing people to clear thoughts or items from their space, and de facto from their mind.

I decided I was going to investigate this with fairly high ticket/expensive items and search for people looking to clear out things in their house.

For them the value wasn’t necessarily the monetary value of the item I was trading them, even if they wanted it.

The value wasn’t necessarily the altruistic value, even if they enjoyed being a part of the story.

Instead the value I provided them was the mental clarity and freedom they now have that an item is gone from their space that was no longer bringing them joy.

And with that I made my second trade and acquired a Wurlitzer piano.

Thoughts so far? Did I make a good trade?
