Only $30 to Stay at One of these Hotels Around the World

Want to stay at a reputable hotel in Argentina, Egypt, France?… Or maybe just in Texas, Florida or California? IHG just announced their new list of “PointBreaks” hotels for stays from now through July 31st. Every once in a while, IHG announces a list of select hotels all around the world that are able to be booked for only 5,000 IHG points. (As opposed to 10,000, 20,000 or even 40,000 points.)

InterContinental Hotels Group, (IHG) is a rewards program with hotels including Crowne Plaza, Candlewood Suites, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels, so they’re reputable hotels with a good branding behind them.

IHG just announced the list. You can view all the hotels available for 5,000 points by clicking here.

Here are the hotels included in the IHG program.
Here are the hotel types included in the IHG program.

The available rooms typically sell-out fast, so if you’re interested and traveling between now and July 31st, definitely check them out. There are literally options all over the world.

How do I get IHG points?

If you have 5,000 IHG points already, then it’s easy to use them.

But if you don’t, or if you’re new to the points and miles hobby and not sure how these points work, IHG actually allows you to buy points. Buying points is not often a good way to get cheap 0r certainly, “free” travel, but Daraius at Million Miles Secrets has a great writeup about how to buy 10,000 IHG points for about $60. This means you’re getting 5,000 points (enough for a free night at one of the Points Break hotels) for just about $30. Some of the hotels available for this promotion for only 5,000 points/$30 a night, include:

HolidayInnSuitesSWAustin
Holiday Inn Express in Austin, Texas

Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand
New_PointBreaks_List_IHG_Hotels_Just_5000_Points_Per_Night_03
Hotel Indigo in San Jose, Costa Rica

$30 a night, or $60 for two nights at a nice hotel in Costa Rica or Thailand. That’s a great deal. Again, Daraius at Million Miles Secrets goes into the full details, about purchasing points. I’m borrowing from hiis posting and writeup which is much more detailed than mine, so all the accolades and credit goes to him for promoting this deal.

  • I LOVE IHG Rewards. My husband just signed up for the IHG REwards card yesterday (I did a few months ago). We’re saving up for a trip that is unfortunately not on the Point Breaks list. Still a good deal, though!

Hey Holly, honored to have you comment here. Yes, it wasn’t one of the programs high on my radar but I am learning more about them and liking them.
