How I’m Going to the Galapagos Islands for a Hundred Bucks

I just booked international round trip airfare from New York to Ecuador (and back) and then a ticket to the Galapagos Islands (and back) for only $112!

If I bought this normally it would have cost me $1,165! That means I saved more than $1,000 by using frequent flyer points. Look at the costs below if I bought the ticket directly.

But instead

I used LATAM points

Here’s my cost for the Ecuador to Galapagos Islands ticket. $44 in taxes.

In total I used points and spent only $112.61 out of pocket. That means I saved $1,052.50, over a thousand dollars!!!

I booked on LATAM airlines and used the LATAM miles. I transferred Starwood Preferred Guest points from my American Express SPG account.

Right now American Express is offering 25,000 bonus points when you open a new SPG card and hit the minimum spend. Click here to apply and get an immediate decision. The Amex SPG card is one of the best out there, and you can transfer to about 30 different airlines.
